A. After talking on the telephone for your complimentary 20-minute consultation, you should have a sense of hopefulness, of being understood. After our first session, you should feel some sort of shift, a movement, in the direction of feeling better.
A. People who are insightful, self-aware, often have been successful in some area of their lives, have seen other practitioners with minimal success, and either are ambivalent about making a change, unclear what to change, or how to change. People who up until now have tried to make sustainable change but have been unable to.
A. My work is most effective for phobias, anxiety, depression, physical or emotional pain, and post-traumatic stress disorders (PTSD). Additionally, my work has helped people improve their business, athletic and artistic performances.
A. At our first meeting we will establish a plan that is tailored to your needs. I usually suggest you commit to 5 sessions to address a particular issue, and then we evaluate if it is necessary to continue and if so, at what pace. The most important thing is that you feel you are making progress in the direction you desire, that you begin seeing positive change in your life.
A. EFT employs the use of clients tapping their fingers on 10 acupuncture meridian points while repeating specific statements suggested by the therapist from the information the client provides.

These procedures eliminate negative beliefs and increase physical health and mental well being.

A. According to a 2012 study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, up to 80% of visits to primary care doctors are related to stress.

Clinical trials have shown that EFT removes emotional trauma and reduces reactions to stress, accelerating the body’s natural ability to heal itself.

A. During our sessions, we spend a portion of time discussing the most challenging issues you are feeling at that moment. With that information we begin tapping. It is an easy process to follow and you learn how to do it quickly by copying what I do while doing it on yourself. It is something you can choose to do on your own between sessions.
A. We do not have to use EFT. I am trained in and teach Motivational Interviewing, that is a deeply respectful method of communication that honors the wisdom within each person. I truly believe you know what is best for you, and together we determine the best way to work towards success.

MI is centered on the client’s needs, using a guiding method of communication and counseling, to elicit and strengthen motivation for change.
A. I do not accept insurance. As a California Licensed Marriage Family Therapist, I am happy to assist California residents by providing a receipt for services, for you to submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement.
A. Fees are due either prior to or at the start of each session.
A. My office is in downtown San Rafael, CA. Currently I meet with people over Zoom which has been shown to be as effective as in person.
